Working Hard!

Our volunteers have been working hard behind the scenes to make sure we can provide the community with more courses in the area. Also helping to bring the community together with Coffee mornings and Events.

We have expanded our usage of Preston Road community centre with thanks. The usage of this space is amazing and we are really greatful. Without this our group would not be where we are today. Inspiring Minds would like to extend our gratitude to Ray for being so helpful and putting up with us.

Inspiring Minds survey.

Please could you take the time to fill out our survey to help us determine the need in the community. Make sure to leave your contact details if you wish to be contacted about any courses you would like to do. Many thanks.

Barriers to involvement?

The journey to a happier life begins here...

Some of the barriers include:

•Child care

•Underestimate yourself

•Dyslexic/special needs

•New to the area/want to meet new people

•Finances, travel costs etc

•Working/looking for work

•Support with facing life barriers for men and woman

•Worries of getting older

To answer some of these we are a friendly, dependably real, reliable group of people who never judge.

We all have our own demons to work through, we all come from different walks of life.  Everyone is unique in their own way and together we can make a difference.

Everyone is welcome, no matter who you are or your circumstannces...No problem! With a majority of the courses  free with no hidden costs what is there to lose?

We offer mentoring for those who need a little extra help. On all of our courses there is funding available for childcare for those with little people who need caring for, whether this is for a childminder or a creche, childcare is important to us so we endevour to do our best to help. There are courses at different times of the day (mostly term time) to help accommodate everyone.

We understand these things can be a daunting process but we guarantee that your first step will not be your last...Come join us and make a pathway to your better future! All with the added bonus of finding new friendships along the way... We looking forward to meeting you!

We are participating in the Learning and Work Institute's research pilot Citizens Curriculum. Mark Ravenhall, Senior Research Fellow for the Learning and Work Institute, said "Inspiring Minds is a great example of an adult learning project where learners are actively encouraged to be in charge."

A few people who have joined Insiring Minds have managed to get back into work after completing our courses! This is great and exactly our aim.

Reviews from Current learners

"I enjoy making friends and learning at the same time" - Emma - Insipring Minds Member

"I have enjoyed all the courses I have been on so far, it’s given me and others confidence, strengths, understandings and strategies to help me on my way to making a brighter future for myself and my family. With a friendly group of people I’ve had such a laugh and always feel comfortable. I am really looking forward to   taking the next step into learning. I’m glad I gave it a go.” Angie– Abingdon Resident

"I found inspiring minds really helpful I got made redundant in January and I couldn't find a job, so the job center advised me to do some free learning whilst I was also searching for work I found the basic IT skills course which I completed and I found the course really good. I learnt about things I didn't know and I found the course very relaxed  and also informative and I got to meet new people and it was in a relaxed  environment  which I found very nice.  And ultimately it made a time in my life that wasn't so good as I wasn't working and  having the day to day dealings with having a job a lot  lot more bearable and in the long run from going to the course gaining the certificate and going out there I got a part time job and then went on to be back in full time work so thank you inspiring minds and I really wish you all the best for the future and I hope a lot more people gain more from you like I did :)" - Michelle - South Abingdon Resident.
